Instead of our 'Day-of-the-Week Bins" I decided to do a "cooking" project with the kids. We made POWERBALLS!
Here's the ingredients you'll need:
1 Cup Peanut Butter
1 Cup Honey (I was a little shy of a cup of honey, so I added a bit of Karo Syrup, too)
3 Cups Oats
1/2 Cup Milled Flaxseed (Didn't picture, because I don't have any on hand)
1/4 Cup Wheat Germ (forgot to put in the picture!)
1/2 Cup Dried Fruit
1/2 Cup Chopped Nuts (we used Peanuts)
1 Cup Chocolate Chips (we used half white and half semi-sweet)
Here are the kids, eager to start!
1. Mix PB and Honey til Smooth
2. Add--Oats, Wheat Germ and Flax
3. Add--Chips, Nuts and Fruit
4. Mix Gently
5. Roll into small Balls
6. Refrigerate overnight on waxed paper
As you can see, our balls aren't all in the shape of "balls", but the kids had fun trying to form them! It was a fun little cooking project that didn't yield too much of a mess! These balls are super healthy and full of "good stuff." You can also freeze them and they save really well in the freezer!
