Fruit Flies

With all the fruit we've been picking and bringing in from the yard, the tomatoes that we have sitting on the counter hoping to ripen, and all the different veggies that have been brought in from the garden----Fruit Flies are ever-abundant in our kitchen!!!  Do you have this same issue?  I guess, 'tis the season, but, it's actually quite disgusting.  I really, really don't like the little buggers.  Doesn't it seem like they appear out of thin air?!  It's quite amazing, actually.

So, in my quest to get rid of them, I came across a super EASY and super EFFECTIVE way to kill the poor guys.  (Or gals?)

This is all you do:

1.  Get a small bowl

2.  Pour in two tablespoons of Red Wine Vinegar

3.  Pour in 1 or 2 tablespoons of dishwashing soap

4.  Mix, ever-so-slighty

5.  Set it on your counter and watch them FLOCK to it!!

Here's a picture of my bowl, and this is just 10 minutes after I set it out!!  It's got some flies in it.....I know, kinda GROSS....but I wanted to show you that it really works!

  1. We are having the same issue with fruit flies. We did the same trick and poof, they all flock to the mixture and take a swim! :) Thank goodness!
